Roadmap
The planned direction of future development
There are several projects underway in our laboratories that have recently matured.
The Goldberg Lab has developed a new image classification system known as WND-CHARM that uses a large suite of calculated features to enable automatic image classification. They are also continuing to develop and support the OME Server.
The Swedlow Lab has focussed its efforts on development of OMERO, a Java Enterprise-based image data and metadata platform that includes for server and client applications. The roadmap for the project is available. The next release is OMERO-Beta3 and will include support for structured annotations, specifically for complex time-lapse images where standard image processing, segmentation, and classification are not sufficient to capture important details, and a gateway for using Matlab functions to process images in an OMERO server. We will also release a standalone application called OMERO.editor that provides an easy, flexible interface for capturing experimental data and information. We are also working on a number of enhancements to the OMERO platform to improve its performance and standardize programming interfaces.
